Mdm Low – Neighbourhood Folktales

Mdm Low

My most significant part of my neighbourhood is the kampong spirit and how everybody knew one another and would help one another out. I used to live in a 2-storey shophouse in Jeddah Street and all the kids would always come together to play with one another, doing all sorts of funny things and playing all sorts of games to keep ourselves entertained. I even remember we always bought sweets of the brand “Hacks” from neighbourhood makeshift store set up by an elderly woman, as well as curry puffs from an Indian uncle who stores all his curry puffs in a doctor suitcase bag.
