The most significant part of my neighbourhood is the shophouses at Upper Thomson… it’s always nice to walk past at night and see so many different people hanging out there.
My most memorable memory when living here is a petrol station near where i live, and when i first moved when i was 5 i made friends with one of the petrol uncles. he would always wave at me everytime i walked past. 13 years later, he still waves at me everytime i see him. we don’t talk, and i still don’t know his name. he just always waves at me and i always wave back. sometimes i come home late and he’ll gesture at his watch jokingly. it’s nice to think that the people in your neighbourhood have seen you grow up.
